Keen sewer wanting to learn how to handle stretch fabrics? This is the course for you. Learn how to sew a  sweatshirt in our 1 day course. Not only will you begin to learn how to sew with stretch but you will have a comfy jumper that has become a wardrobe staple with so many sewers.

The workshop will focus on skills and techniques for sewing with sweatshirt fabric. Pick either Jarrah or Linden

You will learn

  • How to choose your size and interpret the pattern
  • How to cut out sweatshirt fabric and assess the stretch
  • How to stretch fabric on a regular sewing machine
  • How to construct a Sleeve
  • How to add a neckband and cuff using the same or a ribbed fabric
  • How to sew and optional regular hem in a stretch fabric

We class this as an improvers workshop. You must be confident in setting up and using a sewing machine. You should have made 1 or 2 simple garments before but if it’s your first time sewing with stretch fabric, this workshop is perfect for you.

This class runs on Saturday 31st August at 10:00-17:00

Bring along your own machine or use one of ours.

Your sewing machine must either be less than 1 year old or have a valid PAT testing sticker/certificate. Don’t worry we can PAT test your machine on site and this needs to be done before the class commences. If you do not have a sewing machine to bring or a basic sewing kit you can rent one from us for the class. Please tick the options below if you need to do so. Sewing machine hire is £10.00 session. Sewing Kit hire is £3.00 per session.

This class has 4 places only and will only run if 50% capacity is filled.

Price is per student (16+). Places must be pre booked.
